This website is completely database driven as was written in PHP with mySQL, Jan 2001 to December 2001. Cities Online enable local small to medium size businesses to advertise their products and services for free. The website enable public users to register online as members. These members are allowed to place their own business information, products and services, ads, calendar events, etc. directly into the mySQL database. The system administrator interface enable complete control on information placed. All information is per city or town and towns can dynamically be added my the sysop. We will not go into detail about the business requirements of the system.

It has been tested for one year and is proven to be very stable and user friendly. The Cities Online project was a Computec business initiative.

The main system functionalities include the following:

1. Dynamically generated map showing all available cities with links to each. See figure 1.
2. Dynamically generated homepage per town. Each town is directly accessible via a URL. See figure 2.
3. Events calendar per town. See figure 3.
4. Business directory per town, dynamically generated from database. See figure 4.
5. Classified ads per town.
6. Automatic user registration, notification and activation.
7. Detailed statistics for the administrator.
8. Automatic search engine submission via spider pages, hiding PHP extension.
9. Error handling.
10. Dynamic menu button generation. All system menu's and buttons can be changed by modifying database entries.
11. Complete website builder for paying members.
12. Full text editors for member websites. See figure 5.
13. SMS notification.
14. Admin area for members. See figure 6. From here any registered member can add or modify their information.
